A Periodic Internet Political Column

If you were Saddam, do you think you might find some advantage in training ordinary citizens to keep and bear arms? More interestingly, have you considered how dangerous it might be for a ‘tyrant’ to go around passing out weapons to men, women and children?
Never mind that citizens in our country are willingly surrendering their God-given rights in exchange for government ‘protection’ or ‘benefits’ - a Bowl of Pottage!
The American Revolution was won by using tactics that were considered unorthodox and ‘barbaric’ by the Brits [our new Empire-Building bedfellows]. Shooting from behind trees was considered to be cowardly; unmanly. Had we lost, no doubt the Patriots would have been tried for ‘war crimes’ and hung - but not necessarily in that order.
Is it not probable that there are a few Iraqis who may not wish to be ‘liberated’ or ‘democratized’ in the way our Seditious president fantasizes? Is it not reasonable to think they may have some desire to be free of what many of them see as American Hegemony?
Do we really believe everyone in the whole wide world will not be safe or free until they have their own Disney World?
Consider our history with regard to the ‘Natural Militia.’ Who are they? What is their true purpose? Where do they get their resolve? Are they the same thing as a Standing Army? Are they more friendly to Liberty and Security, than to Global Empire? Is the Natural Militia compatible with a Standing Army? Click here for more information on the Militia. Did the Founders and Framers really fear Standing Armies?
Warning! You may not be accustomed to the reliance upon thorough documentation instead of rhetoric to make a point - especially if you heard Colin Powell in his recent performance at the UN.
I will trust to the wisdom of the Founders and Framers until I have good reason to do otherwise. An arbitrary ‘war on terrorism’ sets a dangerous precedent, and its very randomness renders the world a less safe place. How many modern 'wars' on 'this or that' are already in a perpetual status?
In economics it is said that you get less of what you tax and more of what you subsidize. Perhaps it will be true that we get more of everything we make war against unlawfully, unconstitutionally, and unjustly. Consider the Biblical warning: "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." - Galations 6:7.
If you have never seriously compared the Founders and the Framers with the Cabal in Washington DC, let this be your challenge to get your feet wet. We cannot govern ourselves with ignorance.
You may want to consider the humble opinion of a simple Quaker who became a Marine Corps General; won Two Congressional Medals of Honor, and subsequently wrote a little book entitled “War Is A Racket.”
He didn’t end a Pacifist. But you don’t have to be a pacifist to oppose an unlawful, undeclared war.
You don’t have to listen to me. “I didn’t write it. I only read it.”
Let’s do a little preemptive reading. Then we can do some preemptive Impeaching!
